Generals' Lewis heads weekly honorees in SW Virginia

Senior Blake Lewis of Lee High turned in an all-around performance last Friday night that earned him a gold star. Five of them, in fact.

The multidimensional back is the Times News/Johnson City Press Southwest Virginia player of the week.

The multidimensional back rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns, piled up 70 receiving yards and caught a touchdown pass in the Generals’ dramatic 27-26 victory over Eastside.


Jordan Rasnick


The senior quarterback accounted for four touchdowns — three passing and one rushing — while throwing for 302 yards in the 27-26 loss to Lee.


Trenton Adkins


The sophomore rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown in the Wolfpack’s 27-14 Mountain 7 District win over Union on Friday night.


McKenzie Sproles


In the battle of unbeatens, the Wolfpack’s defensive leader made a key fourth-quarter interception against the Bears.

The senior threw the game-winning, 62-yard touchdown pass and rushed for 66 yards in the Pioneers’ 14-13 Cumberland District victory on the road at Rye Cove.
